Jerry is Senior Trial Counsel at Steele Law. He has extensive experience in both civil litigation and criminal defence matters.
Jerry presently focuses his practice in defending a range of criminal allegations including impaired and dangerous driving, dangerous or impaired driving causing death, sexual assault, domestic assault, drug conspiracies or distribution allegations, and digital crime cases. He has represented clients at all levels of court including the Provincial and Supreme Courts, the Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada. Jerry is known for his honest, client-centred focus and history of favourable outcomes.
Jerry has a Bachelor of Communications (BA), a Master’s in Leadership (MA) from Royal Roads University and a Juris Doctor in Law (JD) from the University of Victoria. He is also a graduate of the American Association for Justice Trial Advocacy College at Harvard Law School.
Aside from his busy law practice, Jerry has an interest in promoting lawyer wellness. He is frequently called as a keynote speaker to lecture on the subject in Canada and the United States. He is an active volunteer and former Associate Director with the Lawyers Assistance Program of BC. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of Victoria, where he coaches and supervises senior law students to conduct all aspects of a trial in the Provincial Court of BC.
